The Pastor's Pen
We need to continue learning how to get a hold of God through prayer. A great example of prayer is George Muller. In the 1830’s, he feed thousands of orphans in England and preached the gospel to hundreds of thousands of souls. He so moved his generation with a display of the power of God through prayer, the whole community respected him. He listed in his journals of 50,000 answered prayers. This includes souls saved, money for the ministry, he cared for 2,000 orphans, and personal requests from the Lord. He was asked many times how he determined the will of God on matters and gave a list of eight items that he used to determine the will of God.
- Get your heart into such a state that you have no regard for any matter.
- Do not leave results to feelings or simple impressions.
- Must seek God’s will through the Word of God. They are inseparable.
- Look for God-controlled circumstances. Will never break Biblical principles.
- Ask God in prayer to reveal His will to me.
- Every time I listen to men instead of God, I made a serious mistake.
- Make sure that I have a clear conscience before God and men.
- Act only when I have peace, after much prayer, waiting on God with faith.
